Scale as a value factor
The larger the scale, the more detail — and generally the more value. This applies especially to premium brands.
The largest common scale. Rare CMC and AUTOart models in 1:12 can be worth tens of thousands of euros.
By far the most popular scale among serious collectors. Large supply, strong market and a wide range of values.
Popular for racing cars and F1. Handmade examples from BBR and Spark hold strong value.
Standard scale for work vehicles. Conrad, NZG, WSI and Tekno are the most sought-after brands.
Common scale for model trains (H0). Märklin and Fleischmann are the most valuable brands.
Hot Wheels and Matchbox fall in this category. Valuable editions are rare first series and special releases.
Impact of condition
After brand, condition is the most important factor in determining value. Use this overview as a guideline.
| Condition | Value vs mint |
|---|---|
| Mint in Box | 100% |
| Near Mint | 70 – 85% |
| Very Good | 45 – 65% |
| Good | 20 – 40% |
| Damaged | 0 – 15% |
