TSM Models: the underrated 1:18 manufacturer for GT and race cars
TSM Models (True Scale Miniatures) is one of the less discussed names in the premium scale model world, but deserves far more attention. The brand produces diecast models in 1:18 with a consistent quality that clearly surpasses the budget segment. TSM focuses on a niche that other manufacturers largely overlook: GT race cars, American sports cars and historic endurance models.
What TSM specialises in
TSM has an extensive catalogue of GT race cars in 1:18: Acura NSX GT3, Ford GT GTE, Porsche 911 RSR and BMW M8 GTE with official race liveries. That sets the brand apart from manufacturers who primarily release road cars. TSM also has a strong line of American classics: Shelby Cobra, Ford GT40 and Dodge Viper. The race liveries are accurate, the decals are crisp and the proportions are correct.
Quality compared to the competition
In terms of quality, TSM sits between AUTOart's standard segment and Minichamps. The models are diecast, have opening doors and boot lids, and are well finished for the price. They do not reach the level of AUTOart Composite, but for race liveries TSM is for many collectors the best choice in this price segment (€80 to €160). The models are produced in smaller runs than Minichamps, which has a positive effect on resale value.
Collection value and market
TSM models are stable in value upon resale. Sold-out race liveries, particularly of Le Mans and IMSA championship cars, regularly trade above the original retail price.
